lyrics

Oh I've found peace!
I'm a gardener of the afterlife
I plant the seeds of the dead and weary
Watch as I plow through my strife

Green pastures welcome the wind
Filling my lungs with widowed fears
Are you still learning to tend these fields,
As you welcome men of past years?

I pray to stay grounded
Let joy cleanse my veins
To water my fragile hearts
And wash away all of my pain

I never planned on leaving
One day I just walked
To the cold of the northern plains
Nearly there and my body just stopped

And I looked forward and saw nothing better
I turned round to see nothing but my tracks
I looked down and saw the road under snow
Peering up I saw the stars glowin back

I took her words for granted
And gave my soul to the girl
And now I find myself without a cause
In a place where my heart can see the world

I'm sure you'll never truly care
Care for my mind or for my love
I think I've come to terms with you
But that doesn’t make you a white dove

So I'll just tread these waters
And I’ll make sure my hands are clean
I’ll trim back my strong words
And I'll be sure that you know what I mean

Looked back and saw nothing better
I turned forward to see nothing but my tracks
I looked up and saw the stars above
Peering down I saw the road stare’n back
